Mectinvet-136 /// Composition: Each tablet contains Ivermectin ……………… 136 mcg /// Indications: For use in dogs 6 weeks of age or older. For prevent canine heartworm disease in dogs by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) for a month (30 days) after infection. /// Dosage and administration: Ivermectin 6 mcg per kg body weight or 1 tablet of Mectinvet-136 in dogs 12 – 23 kg body weight every 30 days. The treated animals should be observed for a few minutes after administration to ensure the dog swallow the whole tablet. If it is suspected that any og doses has lost, re-dosing is recommended. Tablets should be given during the period of the year when mosquitoes carrying infective heartworm larvae, are active. The initial dose must be given within 30 days after the dog’s first exposure to mosquitoes. The last dose must be given within 30 days after the dog’s last exposure to mosquitoes. /// Precautions for use in Animals: Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment with this tablet which is not effective against adult D.immitis. Infected dogs must be treated to remove adult heartworm and microfilariae before starting a program with Mectinvet-136. Some microfilariae may be killed by ivermectin at the recommended dosage but it is not effective for microfilariae clearance. Precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals In case of ingestion by human, seek the medical advices immediately. Keep out of children. People with known hypersensitivity to ivermectin should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Wash hand after use. /// Adverse reactions: Toxicity may occur in some sensitive breeds of dogs such as Collies, Australian shepherds, Old English sheepdogs, Longhaired Whippets and Shetland sheepdogs. Toxicity is neurotoxic and signs include depression, ataxia, difficulty with vision, coma and death. Vomitting, anorexia, diarrhea, mydriasis, convulsions and hypersalivation. /// Contraindications: Do not use in dogs younger than 6 weeks of age. /// Drug Ineractions: Do not administer with drugs that could potentially increase the penetration of ivermectin across the blood brain barrier such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, cyclosporine and calcium-channel blockers. /// Storage condition: Store below 30°C, protect from light. /// Presentation: Aluminium strip of 6 tablets.
